Markus Paterson, an actor and singer, and Moophs, the head of Tarsier Records, have linked up once more for their new track “Real.”
Following their Father’s Day single “Every Day,” which they dedicated to their respective firstborns: Jude, Markus’ son with partner Janella Salvador, and Odriana, Moophs’ and wife Alex’s daughter, this is their second collaboration this year.
The neo-soul/pop song “Real” depicts the process of deciding to commit to a future with a particular someone by learning about her goals and determining whether or not the relationship is real.

According to Moophs, the song grew out of a spontaneous guitar concept he got during a session for a separate track with a distinctive chord progression—which eventually developed into its own tune. “Despite the unconventional chords, I tried to keep the hook melody very simple and easy to sing along to. I think the combination of the two with some garage hip-hop type of drums/prod turned out well,” he said.

Markus launched his “B-Side” EP in October of last year, which has received over 3 million Spotify listens to date. Meanwhile, Moophs’ most recent efforts include Bugoy Drilon’s “Shipwrecked” and former BoybandPH member Russell’s “Afraid.”
