“As we move toward creating this policies, sana po suportahan n’yo kami at ‘wag nyo kami iwanan,” pleaded Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairperson Liza Dino during the recent grand launch of the Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP) 2019.
“I ensure to you na ang FDCP, together with our legislators, our supporters from DOLE, and all the government agencies are working together para po tingnan ang sitwasyon ng buong industriya ngayon at gumawa ng paraan para matulungan tayong lahat at i-angat pa ang ating pelikulang Pilipino sa susunod pa na isang daang taon,” Dino told reporters present at the launch at Seqouia Hotel in Quezon City.
The FDCP is the organizer of the PPP 2019. All film entries will have their Philippine premiere from Sept. 13 to 19 in all theaters nationwide.
They are composed of seven PPP feature films and three films under the Sandaan Showcase, which is in line with the 100th anniversary celebration of Philippine cinema.

In addition to feature films, short films created by young filmmakers will be screened in all cinemas nationwide during the PPP under Sine Kabataan. They are the following: “Pinggu, Pwede na?”, “Magna,” “Kalakaro,” “Chok,” “Baon,” “Tinay,” “Atchoy,” “Kanlungan,” “Toto, Tawag ka ng Ate Mo.”
This year, PPP carries the theme “Pamilya, Pagkakaibigan, Pag-ibig.” The PPP 2019 will serve as the grand kickoff for “Sandaan: One Hundred Years of Philippine Cinema,” which will have its opening event on Sept. 12. (Report by Daisy Liezel Cuison)
