Sunshine on working with Enzo: ‘I’m more dominant in bed’

“No sensuality workshop needed for me and Enzo,” said Sunshine Cruz, star of the 2019 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival entry “Malamaya.”

“I think naman kahit hindi kami gumagawa ng ganon (sensuality workshop), na-satisfy naman namin ang aming mga directors,” said Cruz, who portrays the visual artist Nora opposite Enzo’s character, Migs, a photographer.

“Malamaya,” which is a Tagalog term for the color of ash, is a May-December love story codirected by Leilani Chavez and Danica Sta. Lucia., under the production of Spear Films, ALV Films and Cine Likha.

Nora is 45-year old and is unmarried. She is also a pessimistic uninspired artist who finds spark with Migs. This attraction leads her on a path of creative and sexual reawakening. Sunshine also has an undefined relationship with a fellow artist named Jim (Raymond Bagatsing).

Catch “Malamaya” at the 15th Cinemalaya from August 2 to 11 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and selected cinemas nationwide. The wide commercial theatrical run begins on August 7 to 13. (Report by Daisy Liezel Cuison)
