“Culion” lead star Joem Bascon nagreact sa pagsapaw ng promo kay John Lloyd Cruz

“I’m very happy na parang nakapagbibigay ako ng idea at naenlighten sila na mayroon tayong history sa Culion, Palawan, na ganito ang nangyari noon,” said Joem Bascon when asked how he felt while doing Alvin Yapan’s historical drama “Culion.”

In an intimate dinner at Novotel, Araneta Center, Joem shared with Talk-Posh: “Si Kanor, isang mangingisda at isa siya sa ginagamot na may sakit na Hansen’s disease (leprosy). Mayroon siyang kumplikadong relasyon kay Anna (Iza Calzado).”

“Culion” tells the story of people with Hansen’s disease or commonly known as leprosy, which is transmitted through droplets from the nose and mouth during close and frequent contact with untreated cases.

John Lloyd Cruz has a “special participation” in the movie. Asked how he felt about John Lloyd being a cast member,  and is apparently creating a loud buzz for it, Joem said: “I think it’s all for marketing. It’s better for Shandii (Bacolod, “Culion” producer) to answer it. ‘Yong promo, pinaexcite s’ya. I’m very happy na ginawa pa rin ni Edan (John Lloyd) ‘yong proyekto at binigyan n’ya kami ng pagkakataon na makatrabaho at i-offer ulit sa’min ‘yung talento n’ya sa pag-arte kasi sobrang excited na ako ulit makita s’yang umarte,” said Joem.

“Culion” also stars Iza Calzado, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Meryll Soriano and Mike Liwag. It is written by the award-winning screen writer Ricky Lee and produced under iOptions Ventures.

The cast and team of “Culion” is vying for its inclusion at the 2019 Metro Manila Film Festival in December (Report by Daisy Liezel Cuison)
