Hardest job in ‘Belle Douleur:” Putting plaster on Kit Thompson’s privates

“Actually, ang naging malaking problema namin ay kung sino ang maglalagay ng plaster (on Kit Thompson’s private part). Ang daming nagvo-volunteer, kaya lang tinanggihan ko silang lahat kasi alam ko lahat sila my pagnanasa,” said Joji Alonso, who helmed the 2019 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival entry “Belle Douleur.”

It tells the journey of Elizabeth (Mylene Dizon) in finding happiness as she breaks free from the confines that society puts on women. A 45-year old, single clinical psychologist, finds herself alone and resigned to a solitary life after her parents, whom she spent her adult life looking after have passed away.

Through her friends’ advice, Liz begins downsizing her home. She then meets Josh (Kit), a young antique dealer who has been living on his own for years after losing his father and grandfather, and without much memory of his mother. With their loneliness drawing them together, Liz and Josh create a special bond.

Mylene and Kit breaks the 23-year gap by agreeing to take part of this movie. When Mylene was asked to give a rating of 1 to 10 as to Kit’s “hotness,” she replied, “I’ll give him a 9.” Watch the entire video to know why Kit only got a “9.”

Catch “Belle Douleur” at the 15th Cinemalaya from August 2 to 11 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines and in selected cinemas nationwide. The wide commercial theatrical run begins on August 7 to 13. (Report by Daisy Liezel Cuison)
